Air Movement

Unitech offers a wide variety of air movement products. Product offering can be matched to optimize your needs based on sound, efficiency, serviceability, space and other constraints. Unitech standard product offering utilizes products from Twin City Fans (1) and Greenheck (2).

Mix Flow Fans
Mixed Flow Fan combines the benefits of axial flow and centrifugal flow fans. Mixed flow fans are a popular choice on many air supply, return, and exhaust air applications in the HVAC industry for both constant and variable air volume systems. The efficiency and sound characteristics of the mixed flow fans are often desired in buildings such as hospitals, libraries, theaters, and general offices. The heavy-duty construction of QSL fans also make them suitable for many industrial applications handling ambient air. (1)
Plenum Fans
Plenum fans are used to pressurize the entire surrounding air plenum. This allows discharge ductwork to be directly connected to the air handler from any direction. The plenum fan design also saves space by eliminating the fan housing, transitions and diffusers within the air handling unit. Modular plenum fans have found acceptance in the air handling industry due to the versatility, adaptability, and simple, compact design. The modular plenum fan can be used in parallel to construct a multi-fan system. When using the modular fans in parallel, the system provides a more uniform airflow throughout the plenum with less axial length than a larger individual plenum fan. Modular plenum fans operating in parallel may also provide redundancy on critical applications.  Modular plenum fans used in parallel can offer further advantages over a single, larger plenum fan. The use of multiple modular fans in parallel, operating at higher speeds, can
reduce low-frequency sound levels as compared to larger fans. (1)

Airfoil Centrifugal Fans
Double Width, Double Inlet Airfoil wheels can provide higher static options and higher system efficiencies. Airfoil fans offer a large variety of options for economical and efficient handling of large volumes of air for most low, medium, or high pressure HVAC systems and air handling applications. (1)
Speed Control
Unitech offers a veriety of VFD solutions. VFD’s can be provided with thermal overload and fuse protection to isolate individual fans that are wired to a common VFD. Unitech works with ABB (3) to design solutions for redundancy, integration and reliability.
